The 9th Archives Brunch,

A success made possible by District 15

Archives took center stage on March 29, 2026, at District 15 (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu), bringing together 35 participants for an archives brunch dedicated to sharing history, experience, and passion surrounding AA in Quebec.

Claude J., a local archivist and assistant coordinator of the Archives Committee, shared his journey to the regional Archives Committee, followed by a presentation by Justin (87-22 Valleyfield) on document digitization and technical accessibility for all.

Since 2007, Area 87 has stored over 230,000 digital documents; the committee organizes and manages these archives, incorporating resources from other regions while keeping the original documents at the regional services office.

Réjean, a long-time contributor, helps by transcribing and digitizing texts and through his involvement in activities in other provinces; he also recruits new district reporters.

Pierre C., coordinator of the archives committee, outlined the evolution of the audio-sharing site created during the pandemic, which continues to enrich members experience through recordings available online on Un jour autrefois.

Many questions were asked about the committee’s work and the movement’s overall operations, particularly regarding contributions and organizational structure. Pierre V., the regional archivist, answered several of them while demonstrating how the archives stored in the “cloud” work. Three hours of undivided attention!

The brunch took place via videoconference, with the support of translators Daniel and Robert to ensure the participation of English-speaking attendees. Among the guests, Michelle Mirza, senior archivist at the New York Service Office, honored us with her presence. She noted that the department, along with its many archive boxes, will soon be moving to a new space accessible to all GSO staff starting in mid-April.
